LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Keystone College, 68-54, Saturday afternoon to remain perfect in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Bethany Humenik led the Knights with 23 points. Katie Young notched another double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. Cecily Scavicchio netted 11 points.
Melinda Moore had 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Giants. Tiana Cuttino netted 11 points and Ellen Fallon added 10.
The first half featured four ties, including with 1:31 to play at 26. The Giants would hit the last bucket of the half with eight second left to take a 29-26 lead into halftime.
The beginning of the second half was much like the first, including five tied scores. With 9:52 left on the clock and the teams tied at 41, the Knights went on a 13-4 run to jump out to a nine point advantage. Neumann held Keystone at arms length for the final five minutes of regulation and came away with the 14 point win, 68-54.
Neumann improves to 12-6 overall and 9-0 in the CSAC. Keystone is 4-14, 4-5 in the conference. The Knights travel to the College of Notre Dame (Md.) on Thursday for CSAC action beginning at 7 p.m.
