HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University women's soccer team defeated Centenary College 3-2 in overtime in the match-up of two of the top Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) teams on Saturday afternoon.
Heather Hopkins scored with 10 second left in the first overtime off a corner kick to lift the Knights to the 3-2 win and keep Neumann in first place in the CSAC.
Centenary stuck quick, finding the back of the net just 46 seconds into the game. Tonia Russo put the ball in the net in the fifth minute after a mad scramble.
Emily Sanders put Neumann up 2-1 in the 47th minute. The Cyclones tied it at two in the 62nd minute and the game would end up in overtime.
Briana King made five saves in net for the win as Neumann improves to 12-4 overall and 9-1 in the conference. The Knights wrap-up the regular season next Thursday evening when they travel to Gwynedd-Mercy for a 7:00 PM start.
