SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team clinched the No. 1 seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) post-season with a 2-1 double overtime win at Marywood University on Sunday afternoon.
The two teams went into the final regular season game both 7-1 in conference action. The winner of this game would be the No.1 seed in the playoffs and hold home-field advantage; the other would be the No. 2 seed.
Andrew Leissing continues to be on fire as he scored both of the Knight's goals on his nine shots. Bob Mastrillo made six saves in net.
Leissing scored his first goal in the 35th minute off an assist from Brandon Green.
The Pacers knotted the game at two in the 61st minute.
After playing a scoreless first overtime, Leissing would get the game winning goal 3:54 into the second OT. Michael Atallian assisted on the goal that put the Knights as the No. 1 seed heading into this coming week.
Neumann (11-4, 8-1 CSAC) will host a semifinal game on Thursday, Nov. 3. Time and opponent are both to-be-determined.
