SALISBURY, Md. – The Neumann University men's soccer team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after defeating Salisbury in penalty kicks 5-4 on Thursday afternoon. The two teams played to a 0-0 score after two overtimes.
The first set of penalty kicks would not decide the game, as each team made four out of the five. Andy Attah was the sixth kicker for the Knights and he made his shot. The Sea Gulls final attempt floated to the left to end the game and allow the Knights to advance in the Tournament.
Bob Mastrillo made five saves in net for the shutout. Dan Chrashewsky led the Knights with three shots on goal.
This is the second trip to the NCAAs for the Knights and first time advancing.
Neumann (13-4-1) will travel to Messiah on Sunday for a 6:00 PM start in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
