CHESTER, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to Widener University 80-52 on Tuesday evening in non-conference action.

Cecily Scavicchio led the Knights with 15 points.

Four from Widener notched double-figures: Vanessa Hejnas (20), Kate Dellinger (14), Francesca Lee (11) and Joanna Persiano (10). Lee also pulled down 11 rebounds.

Neumann jumped out to a 6-1 lead a minute and a half into the game. Widener came back and took a 9-8 lead with 16:19 left in the first half.

The Pride then took control of the game and built their lead up to as many as 13. The Knights would cut the lead to four, 27-23, on a lay-up by Scavicchio with three minutes left on the clock in the first.

The Pride went on a 14-3 run to end the half and held a 41-26 lead at the half.

Widener held a double-digit lead throughout the second half and came away with the 80-52 win.

Neumann (1-3) will open conference play next Monday when it travels to Cabrini for a 6:00 PM tip-off.
