ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Rosemont College, 85-62, Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Bethany Humenik led the Knights with 17 points. Katie Young picked up a double-double with 15 boards and 14 points. Krista DiRomualdo notched 14 points while Erica Marvel added 12.
Ashley Montecchio had 15 points and 15 rebounds for the Ravens.
Rosemont held the play for most of the first half and built up a nine point lead, 20-11, with 8:21 left. Neumann began to chip away at the deficit and would tie the game at 29 with 2:42 on the clock. There were just two more baskets made in the rest of the half, a two-pointer by the Ravens Karen Boyle and a three–pointer by DiRomualdo. Neumann took the one point lead, 32-31, into the locker room.
The Knights opened the second half on an 11-2 run to jump out to a 45-33 lead. The Ravens would get to within four, but no closer. Neumann would continue to keep up on the pressure and build its lead back to double-digits with eight minutes remaining and would not relinquish it the rest of the way.
With the win, Neumann improves to 16-7 overall and 13-1 in the CSAC. The Knights also clinch the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. Rosemont is now 8-14, 4-10 in the conference. Neumann travels to Philadelphia Biblical on Tuesday evening for conference action beginning at 6 p.m.
