ASTON, Pa. - In the “Holy War” of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), the Neumann University women's basketball team defeated the Cabrini Cavaliers 73-69 Thursday afternoon.

Neither team could break away from each other during the first 10 minutes of the game.  There were four lead changes and the most either team led by was five.  A key moment in the first half was a technical foul called on Annie Rivituso of Cabrini giving Young four attempts from the line, making three. The Knights would follow with a 9-0 run, breaking the game open 30-20 with 7:27 remaining in the half. Cabrini clawed their way back in and the teams entered the locker rooms with the score 41-40, Neumann on top.

Opening the second half the score would stay within two points during the first 10 minutes. There was a three minute stretch where neither team would score a basket.  A three pointer by Cecily Scavicchio would break the scoreless streak and propel the Knights to a 7-0 run giving them a 55-46 lead with 9:14 remaining in regulation. With 2:45 remaining in the game and the Knights leading by 12, the Cavaliers would go on an 11-0 run to cut the lead to one with 28 seconds remaining.  With Neumann leading 71-69 and 19 ticks remaining on the clock, Cabrini called a timeout to draw-up their final possession. Cabrini inbounded the ball and then a key traveling call gave the Knights the ball back to seal the victory.

With the win, Neumann finishes the regular season 18-7, 15-1 CSAC. With the loss Cabrini finishes its season 10-15, 9-7 CSAC.
