COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team split a pair of games at Ursinus College on Friday afternoon in non-conference action.
Neumann won the first game 5-2. Ursinus took the second game 4-3 after it was called in the sixth inning due to darkness.
In game one, Rachel Purpuro went all seven innings for the win. She allowed two runs and struck out seven.
The Knights scored three runs in the second inning. Megan Appold knocked in the first run on a double. Alyssa Falsetti followed with a two-run triple. Neumann added two unearned runs in the sixth inning.
Ursinus put a run on the board in the bottom of the sixth and seventh, but Neumann came away with the 5-2 win.
In game two, Ursinus scored four unearned runs to win 4-3. Brittany Campbell started the game and went three plus innings. Lacie Perry pitched two innings.
The Bears scored one run in the third and three in the fourth. Neumann got on the board in the fifth inning when Nicki Spina hit a two-run double. Callie Emel also knocked in a run in the inning.
Neumann is now 5-5 on the season and will host Muhlenberg tomorrow in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
