ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team blanked Marywood University 1-0 in overtime in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match-up on Saturday afternoon.
Kristin Ambrose hit the game-winner in the 93rd minute of action. Ashley Hawkins made a pass the split the Pacers defender and ended up on Ambrose's foot. She attempted the sharp angle shot and as everyone thought it was going wide, the ball ended up in the net.
Just 45 seconds before that, Marywood almost had a breakaway on the other end of the field. Keeper Briana King came out to challenge the attacker. King went down to stop the shot and the Pacer forward went for the rebound. King sprawled out on the ground and grabbed what seemed to be an empty net gimme.
King ended with two saves in net, both were point blank on net. Brittany Russ got the start and made the save on the one shot that came her way.
Neumann improves to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the CSAC. The Knights will take their four-game winning streak to Notre Dame on Tuesday for a conference game beginning at 4:00 PM.
