Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team (8-4-2) beat non-conference opponents Johns Hopkins University 4-0 Wednesday evening.

The Knights got off to a flying start as they scored four first half goals by four different players. Nathan Beideman, Dan Chrashewsky, Francis Kailondo and Mike McCarthy all scored their first goals of the season.

Caleb Clanton slipped the ball to Beideman at the top of the box. Somehow, Beideman was able to evade three Blue Jays defenders and break free with only the goalkeeper to beat. He calmly got his composure and slotted the ball home to give the Knights the lead in the 4th minute of play.

Steve Warhola continues to grow in confidence and in doing so, he played a delicate ball to Chrashewsky making a run into the penalty box. Chrashewsky took his chances going forward and punched the ball into the back of the net in the 7th minute.
As the Knights settled into the game, the Blue Jays played direct ball over the Knights defense only to find 6'3 goalkeeper Alex Lacko waiting to clear the ball to safety.

The Knights didn't take their foot off the pedal and Andy Attah served in a ball to Kailondo from the right side of the penalty box. Kailondo made good contact on the ball but the ball oddly floated up and over everyone to drop in the back of the net in the22nd minute.

Michael Atallian took a page out of the book from the previous goals and created a chance for McCarthy running through alone in the box. McCarthy is typically foreign to making his way to the attacking penalty box, but on this occasion, he felt comfortable enough to sizzle a shot past the Blue Jays goalkeeper in the 42 minute of the first half.

The Blue Jays were able to get off 11 shots and Lacko made six saves on the night.

The men's soccer team (4-0 Colonial States Athletic Conference) will travel Cairn University on Saturday October 13th slated for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
