Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team beat Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Cedar Crest College 5-0 Wednesday evening.

The Knights are 3-0-2 in the CSAC and Nica Meccariello helped paced the Knights with two goals and one assist on the night. Neumann has recorded their fifth shutout in a row and they haven't given up a goal to date in conference play.

The women's soccer team opened the scoring in the sixth minute mark with Meccariello jamming the ball in back of the net. Emily Sanders buzzed her way down the field, eluding a Cedar Crest player with ease. Sanders service into the penalty box was delightful and all Meccariello had to do was stick out her foot for good measure.

The Knights were not done in the first half as Tonia Russo scored in the 34th minute. Meccariello became a real inconvenience for the Falcons, as she had her hands in most things on the night. Russo found herself wide open on the left hand corner of the penalty box and like any good pedestrian would do, she proceeded with caution to the goal. Russo was calm and cool as she slotted the ball near post to give the Knights a 2-0 halftime lead.

The second half, the Knights picked up where they left off and the scored two goals in the first seven minutes of the second half. It was officially raining goals. Meccariello and Rosie Kays scored the two goals. Kays venomous strike from 25 yards out brought cheers from the raucous Knights fans. The goal was worth a proper celebration, but the score line deemed a calmer approach.

Victoria Pierson tucked in the final goal and gave the Knights a 5-0.

Briana King had to make one save in the game and the shot she received was from 25 yards out near the corner of the box.

The Knights looked impressive as they recorded 33 shots in the game.

Neumann hosts McDaniel College on Saturday in non-conference action. The Knights will honor their seniors prior to the 12:00 PM kick-off.
