Box Score

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team was defeated by Gwynedd-Mercy College 90-57 in Colonial States Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon.

The Griffins extend their unbeaten streak to 13 games in a lop-sided affair. The Knights came into the contest with great optimism, as they were the only team to beat the Griffins earlier in the season and sport a 13-1 conference record. The Knights loss to Cabrini College was to serve as short term memory, only if they beat the Griffins or even get off to a quick start to the game. Neither would be the case as the Griffins flew off to an 11-3 advantage four minutes into the first half.

The next five minutes would see the Griffins jump to a 17 point lead and making a 14-5 run to take a 25-8 lead. The first half ended with the Griffins leading the Knights 46-15.

The Knights were not able to make a significant run in the second half, but they were able to score 42 points to the Griffins 43 in the half. The 31 point halftime deficit was too great a deficit to overcome. Reserve Knight, Brittany Wood led the Knights in scoring, as she popped in 15 points. Sami Borcky offered up a double-double scoring 10 points and bringing down 11 rebounds.

The Knights 10-5 in the CSAC will play their last regular season game Feb. 15 at Baptist Bible College, slated for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
