CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team was defeated in the regular season finale 85-71 against Baptist Bible College in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Wednesday evening.
Erica Marvel and Sami Borcky led the Knights in scoring with 13 points. Colleen Hinde added 12 points and Laura Scott scored 10 points.
The Defenders took control of the game early and jumped out to a 7-2 lead. The Knights would battle back and took a three point lead 12-9, off Bethany Humenik's two free throws. The Knights tied the score for the fourth time in the game, knotting the score 24-24 with 6:30 remaining. The Defenders went on a 14-5 run declaring a comfortable 38-29 lead. The Knights walked into the halftime break losing 38-30.
The second half began the way it ended in the first half. The Defenders would not allow the Knights to be productive, at least in the first few minutes to open the half. The Defenders took a 52-33 lead and that would mark a 14-3 run. The Knights would make a run of their own, cutting the lead to five points (70-65) with Marvel making a three point field with 5:10 remaining in the game. The Defenders had a response for every run by the Knights and their last run would run the margin to 15 points and securing the win.
The Knights will back themselves into post season play with a three game losing streak and losing the last five of six games.
