Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team glided past Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) rivals Cedar Crest College Saturday afternoon 77-48.

The Knights would spot Cedar Crest Falcons a 17-12 lead with 9:15 remaining in the first half. The sluggish start to the first half was not the way Coach Farnese drew up the game after coming off two consecutive losses against Alvernia University and Immaculata University. But Sami Borky would drive to the bucket for two significant points to start the rally, as the Falcons led by three 17-14.

The Knights needed a spark and Cecily Scavicchio would answer the call. Scavicchio scored eight points and added two assist in a stretch that gave the Knights a 28-17 lead (14-0 run for the Knights). Scavicchio drained a three pointer to even the score at 17-17 and then assisted on the next two possessions. Scavicchio (19 points, 7 rebounds in the game) finished the first half with 11 points and the pesky guard acquired four steals.

The second half opened up with Scavicchio starting where she left off, zinging in a three pointer (3-for-4 from three point range on the day). Colleen Hinde would give 26 fantastic minutes. Hinde (11 points, 5 steals in the game) would hit two layups to extend the lead to 18 points just 2:16 into the second half. The Knights would outscore the Falcons 39-23 in the second half.

The Knights were able to turn to most everyone on the bench and get valuable production. Brittany Wood had a break through game scoring 12 points and grabbing six rebounds in 22 minutes. Bethany Humenik with her “steady Eddie” performance scored 10 points and pulled down five assist in only 19 minutes.

The Knights (11-11 overall, 10-3 CSAC) will take part in game one of the double header against Cabrini College February 8th, slated for a 6 p.m. tipoff. Neumann's two seniors will be honored during part of Spirit Night festivities.
