WILMINGTON, Del. The Neumann University golf team finished day one of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championships leading the field by one stroke (328), on Friday afternoon at the Brandywine Country Club.
Ryan Dreger shot six over par to record a 76 on the par 70, 6215 yard course. Dreger walked into the club house, as the second to last group on the day.
Dreger did not know if his high score would hold out with one group remaining. Chris Donohue needed to get a 77 score in order to rank the Knights in first place for the first day. Donohue would do exactly that scoring a 77, which allowed the Knights to jump over Keystone College (329) points.
Bruce Bandos finished in ninth place shooting an 83, Jeremy Gates shot a 92 and Tyler Hiriak managed shooting a 98.
The Knights will try and hold the lead, as they are back at Brandywine Country Club tomorrow. Teams start teeing off at 11 a.m. for the CSAC Championship.
