Men's Soccer tops Griffins 3-1

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team defeated Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe's Gwynedd-Mercy 3-1 Wednesday evening.

Andy Attah scored two goals and Michael Frei had two assist to lead the Knight. Frei served in a ball to Attah at the near post and Attah used the inside of his foot to coral the ball inside the near post.

The Griffins had a answer in the 22^nd minutes, as they were able to get the ball forward and Dan Panepresso whipped the ball to the far post with his weaker foot. The goal would account for one of the two shots on goal for the Griffins.

The Knights were happy campers as they earned a penalty kick with less than two minutes remaining to halftime. Attah stepped up and gave the home side a 2-1 advantage.

Caleb Clanton opened his scoring account for the Knights and extend the lead to 3-1. Frei was the provider and Clanton stood literally two yards from the middle of the goal and use his foot as a windshield wiper to knock the ball in the open net.

The Knights outshoot the Griffins 21-8 and Alex Lacko only had to make one save on the night.

The men's soccer team 4-3-2 will host CSAC opponents Centenary College September 29 for a 3 p.m. start.
