Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team (5-3-2) controlled Centenary College 3-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Saturday afternoon.

The Knights were in the mood to play on a glorious fall day. Andy Attah, Evan Morgan and Nick Ranalli scored for the Knights.

Neumann opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Attah found himself on a breakaway. As the ball was well weighted into Attah's path, the keeper made a fantastic first save, but the rebound from the keeper went off Attah into the goal. Attah celebrated as if that was the plan all along.

On one occasion a flurry of crosses from the Knights resulted in a ball popping out to Nathan Beideman. Beideman was eager to beat the defender and then serve the ball across, but the Cyclone defender was overzealous in his approach and fouled Beideman in the box for a Knights penalty kick shootout. Morgan stepped up and buried the free shot to give the Knights a 2-0 to conclude the first half score line.

The second half became a bit too physical and both teams were allowed to do so. The choppy play wasn't an advantage for either team. Ranalli would close out the scoring when he battled from an Alex Lacko punt. As the ball went over his head and the last Cyclone defender's head, Ranalli used his pace to finish a one on one opportunity with the keeper.

Lacko was steady in the back as he made three saves on the day. Neumann outshot Centenary 17 – 4.

The Knights will travel to Richard Stockton College on Monday October 1 for a 7 p.m. start.
