Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team lost 3-1 in non-conference action against Stevenson University Wednesday afternoon.

The Knights got off to a sluggish start and really never recovered in the game. The Mustangs were very patient defending in their own half and found opportunities to counter attack. On a controversial corner kick for the Mustangs, the ball was served into the Knights defensive penalty box and the Mustangs Andrew Garner was able to bring the ball down and finish it uncontested and take the lead 1-0.

The Knights were able to get a goal back and tie the game 1-1, when Dan Chrashewski served a ball 60 yards into the box for Andy Attah. Attah let the ball bounce and was able to head over the goalkeepers head with 50 seconds remaining in the first half.

One would think that the Knights would gain momentum and there was an apparent step up in play to start the second half, as they created momentary issues for the Mustangs.  But, in the 59th minute, the Mustangs would take advantage on a Knights mistake. The Mustangs would win the ball and attack with four players to the Knights two defenders. Christopher Panian was able to go one on one with the keeper and he played it into the lower right hand corner of the goal.

The Mustangs were able to make the Knights pay off another gift from the Knights to take the 3-1 lead and walk away with the win.

The Knights go back on the road to compete against Gettysburg College Saturday September 8th for a 3 p.m. kick-off.
