READING, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell 56-52 to Alvernia University on Monday evening in non-conference action.

Bethany Humenik hit 17 points to lead the Knights. Laura Scott had 10 points and nine rebounds.

The first half was back and forth, but the Crusaders held the lead for the majority of the time. Alvernia built up a lead of 46-35 with 9:50 left in regulation when Neumann decided to make a run.

Neumann went on an 11-0 run over the next five minutes to tie the game at 46. Jessica Schlesman started the run with a three-pointer and then hit a lay-up for the tie score. The Crusaders then answered with five straight points.

With 1:14 left on the clock, Humenik made a lay-up for a 54-52 Alvernia lead. The Knights had a chance to tie the game, but committed a turnover. The Crusaders answered with a lay-up with 17 seconds left and put the game out of reach.

Neumann is now 5-10 overall. The Knights get back into conference action on Wednesday when they travel to Notre Dame. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 PM.
