ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Baptist Bible College 83-45 on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

Bethany Humenik led the Knights with 18 points, four blocks and four steals. Laura Scott followed Humenik's lead scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. JoHanna Metzger contributed 16 points and Colleen Hinde added 10 points for the Knights.

The Knights got all the support they needed on “Spirit Knight”, but that wouldn't happen early on in the contest. The Defenders took an early 10-6 lead just 3:09 into the contest.

The Defenders continued to pursue the four point advantage 15-11 at the 13:59 mark. But the Knights put a stop to any inclination that this game would remain close. Neumann went on a 15-0 run. Erica Marvel made her greatest contribution during the run, as she scored a three point and two point field. Scott added four free throws to give the Knights a 26-15 lead.

The Knights stood tall and wore down the Defenders with constant defensive pressure. The Defenders would only score five points in the remaining 13:59 left in the first half. Neumann took a 20 point lead into halftime with the 40-20.

The Knights used their deep bench to play an upbeat, high paced second half. The Knights were up by 30 points (61-31) with 10 minutes remaining in the game and they never looked back.

Neumann improves to 9-10 overall and 7-3 in conference action. The Knights continue their home stand next Monday when they host Marywood University beginning at 6:00 PM.
