ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team doubled-up Keystone College 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Brooks Skyers scored the first goal in the ninth minute of the game. Vince Cortese crossed the ball to Skyers, who headed the ball past the Giants goalie and into the net.
Ten minutes into the second half, Tben Donnie hit a point blank shot that hit the post. With the Keystone goalie out of position, Devin Peterson hit the rebound, but a Giant defender was able to keep it out of the net.
In the 57th minute, Joe Martinho notched his first collegiate goal. Evan Morgan launched the ball from a free kick towards the Keystone net. The ball deflected off a Giant defender and Martinho was there to put the rebound away.
Keystone would not hand the game over so easily and cut the deficit to one in the 75th minute. Neumann was able to hang on for the final 15 minutes for the 2-1 win.
Alex Lacko made three saves in net for the win.
Neumann (7-2-2, 3-0 CSAC) travels to Johns Hopkins on Wednesday for non-conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
