The Neumann University Club Ice Hockey team played three tough games at The Classic in Warminster, PA. The Knights started their weekend versus Robert Morris University. Senior Drew Scannella scored two goals helping Neumann defeat Robert Morris, by a final of 8-2.
On Saturday, the Knights took on Fairfield University and the team was excited after their big win on Friday. Fairfield took an early 1-0 advantage at the end of the first period, but the Knights were ready to start the second. Senior Cody Roy scored to tie the game 1-1 and Riley Hess added a score to give Neumann a 2-1 lead. Fairfield responded quickly and the game was forced to overtime where Knights' Janko Mamrilla scored to give Neumann the 3-2 victory.
The team took the ice for their final game of The Classic, playing University of Charlotte on Sunday. The game was tight throughout as both teams were quick to respond to each goal scored. Charlotte had the lead 3-2 going into the second period, but Ryan Dreger netted a score, tying the game at 3-3. The third period started with the score knotted at 4-4, but a Neumann goal soon made it 5-4. Charlotte pulled their goalie in the final minutes, allowing Dreger to score again, this time on an open net, giving the club a 6-4 win.
The Neumann Knights went undefeated this year in The Classic winning all three contests. The Knights record is now 14-4, and they are on a seven-game win streak!
