LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell at Keystone College, 89-86, as it opened Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Monday evening.

JoHanna Metzger led the Knights with a double-double, 18 points and 13 rebounds. Erica Marvel netted 31 points, including seven three pointers. Colleen Hinde had 13 points and Lauren Walker added 12.

Keystone held the pace of the game in first half, leading by as many as 17, 37-20, with 7:12 left on the clock. Neumann cut into the lead and the Giants held a 46-38 lead at halftime.

The Knights opened the second half with eight straight points to tie the game 46. The teams then traded runs and with eight minutes remaining in regulation, Neumann held a one point lead, 67-66. In the final eight minutes, each team held a six point advantage and the game came down to the last minute.

Marvel hit one of her seven three-pointers with 1:17 left in regulation to bring the Knights to within one, 85-84. After trading baskets, the Giants hit two free throws to take a three point lead, 89-86. Jessica Schlesman attempted a three-pointer to tie the game with two seconds remaining, but did not connect and Keystone held on for the win.

Neumann (2-3, 0-1 CSAC) heads home to host Cedar Crest on Wednesday evening in CSAC action beginning at 7:00 PM.
