Women's Basketball Brings Win Home from Immaculata

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team picked up a 65-57 win at Immaculata University on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

 

Bethany Humenik led the Knights with 22 points, including going 8-for-9 from the line. JoHanna Metzger had 15 points. Erica Marvel hit three baskets from beyond the arc and finished with 13 points.

 

The start of the game was back and forth with the teams trading the lead. With 4:19 left in the half, and the teams tied at 27, the Knights scored 10 straight points, including six by Humenik, to take a 37-27 advantage. The Mighty Macs scored the last three points of the half and the Knights took a 37-30 lead into halftime.

 

Neumann built its lead back up to 11, 43-32, to start the second half before Immaculata started to chip its way back into the game. The Mighty Macs scored the next nine points to get to with two, 43-41. Each team then went on runs and the Knights held a one point lead, 54-53, with just over seven minutes left in regulation.

 

Over the next five minutes, the Knights went on an 11-2 run for a 10 point lead, 65-55, with two minutes remaining. The Mighty Macs would make the final two baskets of the game, both free throws, and the Knights came away with the 65-57 win.

 

Neumann improves to 12-11 overall and 10-4 in conference action. The Knights travel to Centenary on Saturday for their second to last regular season game beginning at 1:00 PM.
