READING, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team picked up a 6-3 win over Albright College on Wednesday afternoon.
Doubles was a battle and the Knights came away with a 2-1 lead. Bryan Bodine and Joel Maynard won first doubles 9-8 (7-4). Travis Hall and Stephen Moran had a little easier time in the second doubles match, winning 8-4. Jimmie Ferguson and Todd Del Sordo fell in a hard fought match, 9-8 (7-4) at third doubles.
The Knights came out strong in singles action and the points and second through fifth singles. Maynard, Del Sordo and Moran each won their singles matches 6-4, 6-2 from third through fifth. Bodine won his second singles match 6-0, 6-2.
Hall battled at first singles, but fell in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 7-5.
“This was a great non-conference win for us”, said Coach Chamberlain. “It gives us a lot of confidence for our two conference matches this weekend.”
Neumann (2-4) will host Keystone on Friday afternoon before traveling to Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday.
