ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team had its seven-game winning streak snapped by Rosemont College, falling 75-68 in overtime in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Wednesday evening.
Jessica Schlesman led the Knights with 20 points. JoHanna Metzger netted 16 points and Jordan Ogden added 11.
Regulation was not enough for the teams to decide the game. The Knights and Ravens were tied at 29 at halftime and at 56 at the end of regulation.
Rosemont took control of the overtime session and scored seven of the first 10 points to take a 66-59 lead. During the final minute of action, the Ravens connected on 6-of-8 from the line to spoil the Knights attempted comeback. Ogden and Metzger netted the final two baskets of the game, but it wasn't enough and the winning streak came to an end.
Rosemont held a lead as big as six in the first half. Latisha Johnson hit a layup with 21 second on the clock for a 29-all score at the break.
In the second half, Neumann built its lead to nine, 50-41, with 6:35 left in regulation. After Rosemont hit a basket, neither team would score for two minutes. The scoreless drought ended with a Raven's free throw.
Schlesman hit 2-of-2 from the line with 2:34 left on the clock for a 54-46 lead. Rosemont then score 10 consecutive points to take a 56-54 lead with 21 seconds left. Schlesman was fouled and again hit both shots from the line to tie the game, this time with 19 seconds on the clock. The Ravens committed a turnover and the teams went into overtime knotted at 56.
Neumann (10-7, 7-3 CSAC) will continue its four game road trip at Cairn University on Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 PM.
