ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team used a strong second half to defeat Eastern University 67-50 on Saturday afternoon.
Colleen Hinde led the Knights with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Jessica Schlesman netted 13 points while Erica Marvel added 10.
Eastern held the pace of the game to start, building an 11 points lead, 26-15, with 7:11 left in the first half. With the Eagles leading 29-18, the Knights started to climb back into the contest, ending the half on an 11-3 run. Eastern held just a three point advantage, 32-29, at the break.
Neumann continued its dominance as it came out for the second half. The Knights netted the first eight points of the half, taking the lead on a jumper by Hinde. Neumann steadily built up its lead during the first 10 minutes, outscoring Eastern 20-4 for a 49-36 advantage.
The Knights used the lead built in the first 10 minutes to come away with the 67-50 win. The Eagles were held to just 18 points in the second half.
Neumann (4-6) heads back into conference action on Wednesday when it hosts Rosemont. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 PM.
