ASTON, Pa. - Three second half goals lifted the Neumann University women's soccer to a 3-2 win on Homecoming over Cedar Crest College on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Before the game, the Knights honored their five seniors: Briana King, Becca Burkhart, Tonia Russo, Ashley Hawkins and Emily Sanders.
The Falcons scored their two goals in the first half. Their first goal came on a breakaway in the fourth minute. The second goal came on a chip shot in the 13th minute.
Nicole McAfee broke through for the Knights in the 51st minute. Hawkins scored the first of her two goals in the 59th to knot the game at two. Alexa DeRose notched the assist. With time starting to wind down, Hawkins made her way down the field and shot the ball towards the net. The Falcon keeper was able to make the stop, but Hawkins got her own rebound and put the eventual game-winner in the back of the net in the 87th minute.
Neumann outshot Cedar Crest 30-2 overall and 17-2 on net.
Neumann (5-7-1, 5-3-1 CSAC) will host Cabrini on Tuesday as CSAC action continues. The game is slated to begin at 7:00 PM.
