Women's Soccer Falls to Cabrini in OT

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer bid to hand Cabrini College its first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) loss fell just short, falling 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday evening.

The teams played to a scoreless first half. Cabrini opened the scoring in the 50th minute. As time was starting to tick away, Neumann capitalized on a scrum in front of the net off of a corner kick as Tonia Russo netted her fourth goal of the season in the 83rd minute. Kahlyn Ford assisted on the game-tying goal.

The action heated up in overtime, with both teams getting chances. Briana King made three of her seven saves in the extra time. With three minutes left in the first overtime, Ashley Hawkins made her way past the Cavaliers defense and got the ball to Russo, who put the ball just over the top of the net. Cabrini then made its way down the field and found the back of the net with in the 98th minute for the win.

Neumann (5-8-1, 4-5-1 CSAC) hosts the City College of New York on Sunday afternoon in its final home game of the regular season. The non-conference game gets underway at 1:30 PM.
