Women's Soccer Concludes Regular Season with Win

LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 5-2 win at Cairn University on Thursday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

Emily Sanders exploded for three goals. Ashley Hawkins had a goal and an assist. Briana King started in net and made three saves. Kristen Montgomery made two saves in the five minutes of action.

Sanders opened the scoring in the 17th minute off an assist from Hawkins. Alexa DeRose put Neumann up 2-0in the 26th minute and the Knights would hold the 2-0 lead at the half.

Sanders scored her next two goals in the 50th and 55th minutes as Neumann took a 4-0 lead. Hawkins netted her goal in the 69th minute for the Knights' fifth tally.

The Highlanders scored twice in a minute to spoil the shutout bid. However, the Knights then clamped back down on defense and came away with the 5-2 win.

Neumann ends the regular season 7-8-1 overall and 6-4-1 in CSAC action. The Knights are the No. 6 team in the postseason and will travel to Gwynedd Mercy on Monday for first round action beginning at 6:00 PM.
