ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team heads to Babson Park, Mass. for the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. The Knights will face SUNY-Cortland in the opening round on Saturday.
This will be the Knight's third trip to the NCAA Tournament. Their last appearance was in 2011 where they made it to the Sweet Sixteen.
The Knights are coming off winning their third Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship. Dan Jones came up big for the Knights to help them came away with the win. He saved eight shots in regulation and both overtimes along with two in penalty kicks session. Brooks Skyers scored the lone goal in regulation, also on a penalty kick.
They will be leaning heavily on Jake McDevitt and Zach DiDonato. McDevitt and DiDonato led the team with five goals. Skyers and Tben Donnie each added four goals.
Jones, who accumulated almost 1,500 minutes in net in 16 games, had a goals-against-average of 1.22, notched eight wins with three being shutouts.
The two teams will face off on Saturday at 1:30 PM. The winner will face the winner of the other first round match between Babson and Rutgers-Newark on Sunday.
