ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Wesley College 59-49 Sunday afternoon in the Championship game of the Neumann Tip-Off Tournament.

Jessica Schlesman was named the tournament MVP. Sarah Roberts and Holly McKaig were named to the All-Tournament team.

Schlesman led the Knights with 19 points, including three from three-point range, while McKaig recorded 17 points. Ericka Smith-Sowell grabbed 10 rebounds.

Wesley took a solid lead to start off the game as they opened on an 11-2 run. Neumann then went on its town run to cut the lead down to two, 14-12. Each team had runs during the rest of first half, and the Wolverines finished with a run to take a 31-24 lead at the break.

Neumann came out strong to start the second half, scoring the first 11 points, tying the game and taking the lead. The Knights continued the momentum and took a six point advantage, 46-40, with eight minutes left in the half.

A three pointer by Schlesman and two layups by McKaig took the Knights from a one point lead to a 56-48 advantage. Two free throws by Emily Lyons and one by Schlesman down the stretch sealed the win,

Neumann (2-0) will travel to Widener for it first road action next Saturday. Tip-off is at 1:00 PM.
