SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team snapped Marywood University's 32 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) winning streak with a 5-4 win on Sunday afternoon.
The Pacers last lost a regular season CSAC match on April 5, 2009.
Neumann started the afternoon on the right foot, taking two of three doubles matches. Bryan Bodine and Joel Maynard won second doubles 8-4. In third doubles, the match went 9-8, and Todd Del Sordo and Stephen Moran came out on the winning side.
In singles action, all of the matches were battled and could have gone either way. Dustin Broom won his match at second singles 7-6 (7-4), 6-1. Maynard took his match at fourth singles 6-2,6-4. Del Sordo clinched the win for the Knights, 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, at fifth singles.
Neumann is now 9-2 overall this season and finished conference action a perfect 7-0. This week, the Knights will face Moravian and Penn State-Berks to tune up for the postseason.
