ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team let an early lead slip away and fell to Gwynedd Mercy University 2-1 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Wednesday night.

The Knights held possession and play for the first half. Ashley Hawkins put Neumann up 1-0 in the 39^th minute as she squeaked the ball past the Griffins keeper off a pass from Lexi Casper.

Neumann and Gwynedd Mercy each held part of the play in the second half. The Griffins tied the game at one as they put the ball in the net off a cross pass in the 58^th minute. GMU then took a 2-1 lead in the 82^nd minute after a scrum in front of the NU net after a throw in. The ball bounced around and the Griffins put the ball in the back of the net.

The Knights had their shots in the final minutes to tie the game, but could not get the ball past the Griffins keeper again. Neumann outshot Gwynedd Mercy 15-7 overall and 7-2 on net. The Griffins made their two shots on goal count, as they scored on both.

Neumann (0-6, 0-2 CSAC) heads north to Keystone College for more CSAC action on Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM.
