LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University soccer team picked up its first win of the season, 2-1, at Keystone College on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Tonia Russo put Neumann up 1-0 as she headed in a corner kick from Alexa DeRose in the 22nd minute. As time was winding down in the first half, Nicole McAfee tapped in a pass from Ashley Hawkins with just two seconds remaining, for a 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Giants cut the Knights lead in half in the 56th minute, but that's all Keystone would be able to get and Neumann hung on for the win.
Neumann outshot Keystone 17-4 in the game. Briana King made two saves in net for the win.
Neumann (1-6, 1-2 CSAC) hosts Notre Dame in more conference action on Tuesday beginning at 7:00 PM.
