ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Notre Dame of Maryland University 56-49 on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

With the win, head coach Frank Franese earned his 150th career win at Neumann. In his 10th season, Farnese is now 150-11 overall.

JoHanna Metzger led the Knights with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Alex Fernandez (fr. Oxford, Pa. / Oxford) netted 15 points. Lauren Legler added 11. Holly McKaig pulled down 13 boards. The Knights as a whole played excellent defense recording 18 steals and holding the Gators to only four second chance points.

In the first half the Knights took an early 9-1 lead. The Gators worked their way back to within one, 18-17, with 8:55 left in the first half. Neumann answered with the next seven points to take back the lead. The Knights held a 35-27 lead at the half.

Neumann wanted to keep the momentum on its side at the start of the second half.  The Knights opened the second half with six straight points to increase their lead.  The Gators would only get to within nine during the second half and the Knights got back into the win column.

Neumann (8-10, 5-4 CSAC) hosts Keystone on Monday evening in a rescheduled game from earlier this month. Tip-off is at 7 PM.
