SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team season came to an end as it fell at Marywood University 2-1 in double overtime in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal contest on Thursday evening.
The first goal came in the 52nd minute as the Pacers were able to find the back of the net.
Jake McDevitt tied the game at one in the 63
rd minute off an assist from
Andrew Kelly.
The game had to go into extra time to decide a winner. Marywood was able to take advantage of a free kick in the 108
th minute and scored the game-winning goal with 1:20 left in the second overtime.
Marywood had the slight edge on Shots, 19-17. McDevitt led Neumann with seven shots. The Pacers outshot the Knights 10-4 in the first half, but the Knights responded in the second half, outshooting 10-5.
Shane Smith made seven saves in net.
Neumann finishes its season 6-10-2 overall and 4-4-1 in conference action.
