Box Score ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team knocked off Immaculata University 71-61 on Monday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Jessica Schlesman led three Knights in double-digits with 25 points and tallied seven assists. JoHanna Metzger netted 14 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Sarah Roberts added 12 points.
The Might Macs started the game by going on a 13-4 run. Metzger ended that run with a layup. The Knights answered with an 11-4 run to cut the lead to within one, 18-17. The teams then went on a scoreless drought for three minutes. Neumann took its first lead with 6:45 remaining in the half when Lyons knocked down a three to put the Knights up 20-19.
With Neumann holding a two point lead, 28-26, the teams went on another scoring drought, this time for two minutes. Metzger ended the scoreless period with a layup. The Knights ended up taking a 32-30 lead into the break.
The Mighty Macs tied the game with two free throws to start the half. Metzger answered right back with a layup and the Knights never relinquished the lead. Immaculata stayed within striking distance for most of the half and was within one, 57-56, with 3:29 left in regulation. Neumann scored the next eight points for a 65-56 score with a minute remaining. The Knights were able to capitalize on free throws in the final minute to come away with the 71-61 win, and still a chance to clinch a playoff berth.
Neumann (11-13, 8-7 CSAC) heads to Rosemont for the final regular season game. Action gets underway at 6:00 PM.
