Box Score ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball season came to an end with a 67-66 loss at Rosemont College in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action Wednesday night.
Jessica Schlesman led the Knights with 17 points and four assists. The senior went 10-for-11 from the line. JoHanna Metzger contributed a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Emily Lyons and Lauren Legler scored 12 points each.
Neumann opened the game by scoring the first seven points. The Knights would hold their biggest lead, 29-19, with 6:37 left in the half. The Ravens began to chip their way back into the game. With Neumann leading 33-25, Rosemont went on a 13-0 run to take a 38-33 lead. Schlesman hit a three-pointer with 47 seconds left in the second half and the teams went into the locker room knotted at 38.
The second half was much like the first, and the Knights built up an eight point advantage, 58-50, midway through the half. The Ravens again would chip back their way back into the game. Neumann's last points came with 2:56 left in regulation as Sarah Roberts netted two free throws for a 66-63 lead. Rosemont would then hit a jumper with just under two minutes remaining for a one point game. With 1:32 on the clock, the Ravens would hit two free throws to take a 67-66 advantage. Each team had changes to score in the final minute. Neither team was able to sink any more baskets. The Knights ended up with the last shot as the buzzer sounded, it didn't go and the Ravens came away with the one point win.
Neumann finishes its season with an 11-14 overall record, 8-8 in the CSAC.
