CAMDEN, N.J. – The Neumann University men's tennis team opened the 2015 season with a 6-3 win at Rutgers University-Camden on Friday afternoon.
Todd Del Sordo and Trevor Hoopes opened the match with a win at second doubles, 8-1, for the Knights lone point.
Neumann picked up the action in singles play, taking points in the first five flights. Travis Hall battled at first singles and won, 6-1, 1-6, 10-2. Dustin Broom took second singles, 6-2, 6-2. Hoopes won his first collegiate singles match, 6-1, 6-1, in the third slot. Del Sordo won fourth singles, 6-2, 6-2. Nick Manza also picked up his first collegiate win, 6-1, 6-4, in the fifth slot.
"I am so proud that our first match of the season was a solid win", said head coach Kayla Chamberlain. "We are looking forward to see what the rest of the season brings."
Neumann (1-0) will host Eastern on Wednesday for the third shot at a home opener. Action gets underway at 3:30 PM.
