MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Neumann University softball team won two close games in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday. The Knights defeated Regis College 2-1 and then Wilkes University 1-0.

Neumann scored in the first inning against Regis as Allie White opened with a single and came around to score. Regis was able to tie the game at one in the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, Danielle Grayson worked a walk with one out. Carla D'Angelo entered as a pinch runner and scored on a double by Megan Williams for a 2-1 Knights lead. Haley Broomell sent Regis down in order in the top of the seventh for the win.

Broomell picked up the win, going two innings in relief. She struck out four and did not allow a hit. Kristin Beaty started the game and went 5.0 innings. She allowed one run on five hits.

The Knights then defeated Wilkes 1-0. The lone run game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Kara Grogan reached on a single and scored on an error by the shortstop.

Lauren Wilkie got her second win of the season, going 7.0 innings. She allowed five hits and struck out three.

Neumann (4-0) faces Grove City in a doubleheader on Thursday.
