ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University men's tennis team advanced to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship match with a 5-1 win over Marywood University in a semifinal match-up on Friday afternoon.
Neumann took two of the three doubles points. Benjamin Bright and Dustin Broom won first doubles 8-5. Trevor Hoopes and Todd Del Sordo battled at second doubles and came away with a 9-8 win for a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.
Hoopes won the first singles match to finish, winning 6-1, 6-2 in the fourth slot. Nick Manza continued his outstanding freshman season, winning 6-2, 6-4 at sixth singles.
Broom clinched the match after a battle at second singles, winning the match 5-7, 7-5, 6-1.
Neumann (9-2) will face Gwynedd Mercy in the CSAC Championship match tomorrow afternoon beginning at 4 PM at Legacy.
