CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Neumann University softball team's season came to an end at the NCAA Tournament when it fell to DeSales University 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Haley Broomell started the game for the Knights and went 5.0 innings. She allowed six runs, three earned, on eight hits and struck out three. Kristin Beaty pitched a perfect sixth inning and struck out one.
DeSales struck early, putting a run on the board in the first inning. The Bulldogs then added three runs on a long ball in the third for a 4-0 lead.
The Knights scored their run in the fourth inning. With one out, Megan Williams singled and then stole second. She came around to score on a single by Melissa Rozumalski.
DeSales added two more runs in the fifth inning on another homerun. Neumann was not able to get any more offense going and fell 6-1.
Neumann finishes its season 30-9 and the Colonial States Athletic Conference Champions!
