NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Neumann University men's soccer team fell 2-0 to No. 8 Christopher Newport University in the Joe Pombriant/CNU Classic on Sunday afternoon.
The Captains were able to take a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute. The game would remain close throughout the rest of regulation, with CNU's second goal coming with just five seconds left in the game.
The Knights and Captains played a close game, despite CNU outshooting Neumann 21-4 overall.
Tim Glaccum made eight saves in net to keep the Knights within striking distance.
"We battled hard and played right with them the whole game," says head coach
Tim Hollenback. "We had our chances, but just didn't capitalize."
Neumann (1-1) will head to Arcadia for non-conference action on Wednesday. The game is slated to get underway at 7:00 PM.
