Box Score ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team lost a Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup to Centenary University on Saturday afternoon.
Levi Massey and
Jack Norwood both scored for Neumann in the loss. Goalie
Shane Smith made nine saves in net.
Neumann started strongly as Massey found the back of the net from distance just over six minutes into the contest off an assist from
Joe Martinho. Centenary would reply by notching the next two goals of the game to take a 2-1 lead into the 24
th minute. The Knights answered back just 54 seconds later though as Norwood banged home a loose ball in the box off a feed from
Christian Cortese. It looked as though the game would head to halftime tied at two apiece, but the Cyclones scored a late goal with 43 seconds left in the half to take a 3-2 lead into halftime. Despite the deficit, Neumann carried a 14-10 edge in shots and a 5-0 advantage in corners into the half.
The second half would prove to be all Centenary, as the Cyclones notched all three goals of the half to claim a 6-2 win. Shots for the match finished 27-19 in favor of the Cyclones.
Neumann (3-11, 1-4 CSAC) is next in action on Tuesday, October 18
th as they head to CSAC rival Keystone College. The match is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
