After, unfortunately, having their first match against Widener rescheduled, the Neumann Women's Rugby team were eager to play against Mount St. Mary's, a team they had narrowly avoided playing in the sevens tournament last spring. This was a team that the Knights had been preparing to play, and would arguably be one of the toughest teams they have played.
Neumann would start off the first half strong, with
Becky Burns,
Kim Kasnic, and
Alisha Wolf all scoring a try a piece.
Victoria Mellon would successfully get one conversion, putting Neumann ahead 17-15. Neumann would have a strong defense that would hold off Mount St. Mary's until the end of the first half.
However, Neumann would begin to falter in the second half, where Mount St. Mary's would break through their defense and would score a quick succession of tries, putting them ahead. Neumann's offense started to get sloppy, which would result in their downfall.
Kim Kasnic would score one more try for Neumann before the match would end with Mount St. Mary winning 39-24.
Once the A-side game ended, the B-side game started. New player
Hayley O'Connor for Neumann would score her first try and
Amanda Brown would also score a try for Neumann, the game ending in a 10-10 tie.
