Saturday, October 29 marked the third year in a row that the Neumann University Women's Rugby Club would participate in an Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union (EPRU) championship match. This season, however, the club was competing in the top Tier (1) as opposed to the Tier II title they brought home last season.

Championship weekend was set up as grueling affair, with full matches scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, Neumann battled Albright College. Albright was a team they had played a week ago on their home pitch and Neumann came away with a 41-19 win. This time Neumann wanted to leave no doubt who was the superior team. The Knights went into the game with a fire in their eyes and a thirst for a spot to play in the championships the next day. Neumann ended up winning the game in dominate fashion, 67-10. The match saw many scores, including Victoria Mellon with four tries, Aisha Brockington with her first career try, the dynamic duo of Sharae Frazier and Kenne Poles combined for three tries, defensive specialist Alisha Wolf added a try, and top forwards Kim Kasnic and Brooke Nugent each added a score. The victory placed Neumann versus Mount St. Mary's for the EPRU Tier I Championship on Sunday, October 30.

With its early morning departure, Neumann was eager to get to Mount St. Mary's. They had played this top-five nationally ranked small college team earlier in the season, having lost 39-24. The ladies wanted another shot at Mount and at clinching the Tier I championship. Neither team could get into a rhythm early and the halftime score was knotted at 12. The first-half scoring was once again led by the duo of Frazier and Poles. The second half saw Neumann take the lead with tries from fly half Mellon and captain Becky Burns, but with roughly 10-15 minutes left in the match, Neumann was down 29-26. Unfortunately, Mount St. Mary's would score two late tries to widen the gap to the final score of 39-26.

However, this is not the end of the season for the Neumann University Women's rugby team. Since they placed second in the Tier I Championships, that means that they received a bid to play in the Central Region Championship at Denison University in Granville, Ohio on November 12. A successful weekend in Ohio would result in the club advancing to Georgia to play in the National Small College Final Four.
