ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball will travel to Marywood University for a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal matchup on Wednesday evening.
Neumann, the No. 4 seed, defeated No. 5 seeded Centenary College on Monday by a 74-66 score to advance to the semifinals.
In the first round,
JoHanna Metzger led the Knights with a double-double scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Nafisa Saunders also netted 15 points and handed out four assists.
Lauren Legler added 14 points while going 4-for-5 from the free-throw line.
Marywood enters the playoffs as No. 1 seed. During the regular season, the Knights fell to the Pacers in the lone meeting.
In early February, the conference match-up was a close battle, but the Knights fell short in a 63-60 loss against the Pacers.
AAliya Hayes netted 12 points and added eight rebounds to lead the Knights. Metzger scored 11 along with nine rebounds. Legler contributed 10 points.
This will be Neumann's first appearance in the semifinals game since 2014.
The winner of Wednesday nights contest will take on the winner of the other CSAC semifinal contest between No. 2 seed Gwynedd Mercy and No. 3 seed Cabrini College. The Championship game is slated to take place on Saturday at the highest remaining seeds home court.
