ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University women's basketball team will travel to Cabrini College for the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship on Saturday.
Neumann, the No. 4 seed, upset No. 1 seeded Marywood University on Wednesday night by a 63-58 to advance to the championship.
In the semifinal game,
Lauren Legler led the Knights with 18 points and hit three from behind the arc.
AAliya Hayes notched a double-double with 16 points and 17 rebounds.
Nafisa Saunders added 15 points while
JoHanna Metzger pulled down 13 boards.
Cabrini entered the playoffs at No. 3 seed and defeated No. 2 seed Gwynedd Mercy on Tuesday night by a 67-56 score.
During the regular season, the Knights fell to Cabrini in the lone match. Neumann lost 82-46 against the Cavaliers. Metzger netted 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
This is the first appearance in the Championship game for Neumann since it won the title in 2010-11. Cabrini is the three-time defending CSAC Champion. The Knights and the Cavaliers have never met in the CSAC Championship game.
Neumann is currently 17-10 overall and is currently on an eight game-winning streak.
Tip-off slated to be at 5:00 PM. The winner will represent the CSAC in the NCAA Tournament.
