OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Neumann University women's basketball team season came to an end in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South first round 85-60 at Stevenson University on Wednesday evening.
Lauren Legler led three Knights in double-figures with 16 points.
AAliya Hayes netted 15 points and
JoHanna Metzger added 14.
Metzger put the Knights on the board first. The Mustangs tied the game at two a minute later. Metzger then put Neumann up 3-2 with a free throw. However, the Knights would not be able to find the basket until Legler hit a jumper with 1:52 left in the first quarter. During that time, Stevenson had netted 21 points. The Mustangs held a 29-8 advantage after the first 10 minutes.
Stevenson continued to add to its lead during the second quarter and took a 52-23 lead into halftime.
Neumann opened the half with a 12-4 run. The Mustangs answered and both teams netted 17 points in the third quarter for a 69-40 score heading into the final 10 minutes.
During the final five minutes, the Knights outscored the Mustangs 11-2, but it wasn't enough to come back from the deficit and Stevenson advances with the 85-60 win.
Neumann finishes its season 17-12 overall.
